Snapper RER won't start

I have a snapper 2823115BV that I recently had to remove the mower deck to have the blade spindle replaced. I reinstalled everthing correctly I thought but now it won't start. I added fresh gas but it doesn't seem to be getting fire. Any suggestions as to the cause? Thanks!

Did you physically check for spark? Does the starter crank the engine? If so, spray a shot of carburetor cleaner directly into the carburetor and try starting it again. If it starts and runs for a few seconds and then dies it is a fuel problem, if it doesn't start it is a spark problem.

Report back with your findings.

It's actually a pull start so no starter however I did pull spark plug & spray started fluid inside with no luck. I have been searching the web, and ran across some info about a switch on the the deck, deck interlock switch with a little trigger thing on it that contacts blade lever. From what I've read, maybe I don't have this postioned correctly so that it's making the proper conact with blade lever. It was said that this switch if faulty or disconnected would prevent motor from firing. Is this a possibility?

Yes, that safety switch could cause the problem you have. The switch is located under the plastic cover which is bolted on top of the deck. The cover protects you from the belt and pulleys while they are rotating. Remove the cover and look for some wires that plug into a switch. The switch may be out of adjustment, it could also be broken or you could have a wiring problem. Check the lever that operates the switch to see if it fully pushes in the plunger of the switch and check if the plunger springs all the way back out (about 3/4" travel in most cases). One step at a time.

I'll check it tomorrow. It was running fine before I took the deck off to replace the blade spindle. I'm hoping that maybe when I put the deck back on maybe I didn't get the switch completely lined up.

Check your linkage to the blade off/on
Engine might think the blades are engaged and no spark signal is there

Thanks for all of the help.... it was the little blade engagement switch wasn't making enough contact with lever. I bent the trigger alittle so it would make more contact and the mower started right up. Thanks guys!:thumbsup:
