I recently acquired a snapper rer lawnmower. it wont move when put in gear. I have stood it up and turned one tire and the other does not turn. BUT if I jiggle one tire back an forth a bit then they start turning in opposite directions. I sat it back down an started it an it still did nothing. any ideas would be greatly appreciated

It doesn't sound very good. Turn it back up on it's end, then pull the black caps/if any off of the rear axles, and look at the shaft while you turn the wheel, make sure that the bolt is still there, etc. both sides. then turn both wheels in the same direction, and look at the wheel with the black rim, and tell us what happens. Of course you should have the trans in neutral or roll.

Probably just right there in what they use as the differential assy., but you or no know professional will disassemble all of that goo without going through the whole thing and fixing it right, which is worth more than the mower.

I could come across them all of the time with a cantankerous Tecumseh on it, and buy the whole mower for $50, which is what you should do.
