Hi,
ID Tags are gone from this Mower.

It has a 9HP Manual start only B&S Power Built Engine.

Here are some pics.

Snapper Noob here so any help appreciated!

Can you please provide us with a little more info? There are over 30 different models produced which look like yours. We could use deck size and all Briggs numbers, model, type and code.

Rivets I think this is the same guy that is looking to find out if the engine is cast iron bore or aluminum bore on his 9 hp powerbuilt which seems strange that the model number tag for the mower and also the model number riveted tag is missing from the engine.

You could be right, but I don’t remember any Briggs engines where the riveted tag would go under the rope starter housing. To the OP, did the customer but this used or is he the original owner? Do you have a guess as to how old the unit is?

Hi,
Thanks Fellas, the Tag on the Mower is gone, and the Tag on the engine is gone.

Yes, I'm also trying to find out if this 9 HP Power Built has the Cast Iron Sleeve.

Bert gave me a good way to find out through the spark plug hole but I don't have a small magnet that will fit.

I thought with the pics of it this would be a no brainer for you guys, but guess not.

I bought this from a Snapper Dealer, it was a trade in.

I've known the Owner for close to 30 years so trust him.

He said the Engine had the sleeve but was trying to confirm?

The History on this Mower...I have no idea?

Thanks, again!

If you bought it from a Snapper dealer, if he’s any good, he should be able to tell you what model it is. At least he can give you the name of the original purchaser. As I said earlier, i‘ve never seen Briggs install a recoil housing over the ID tag. To me 2+2 does not equal 4.

Take a look at the SR828 M280817B rider. It looks very similar.

Hi,
Thanks that looks like it and that model is listed with an 8 HP instead of a 9, but...

They may have gone with a 9 at the later part of build of the Model.

Or the engine has been replaced. I looked at the SR928 but it appeared to be a newer style. the same with the SR1028.

Hi,
Sorry, I flipped your switch obviously, but from this list, only one actually comes close from that time.

With a 9hp it's a 28" deck, model unknown. The 30" decks had like around 12hp engines. The 33" have 14 plus hp engines.

Hi,
Well had a pleasant surprise today...

Finally found a Tag under the seat on the round bar.

Has model and ser. #'s so should be all I need.

It is an "M" Model series 19 and was built in 2003.

That model did come with a 9HP B&S Engine.

Thanks again for the help!
