Hi all, I just recently bought a new snapper gas trimmer that came with a brush cutter blade. It has a black coating on it and seems very dull/blunt on the edges. This might be a dumb question but, are you supposed to sharpen it before use? Sorry first time using one! =)

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely not, read owners manual cover to cover.

Thanks for the reply! Yep, that's the first thing I did, but it did not mention anything. Only how to attach/detach the blade. I suppose the fact that it -doesnt- mention sharpening should have been enough info to know not to sharpen it?

the specific trimmer I have is from Walmart (link here)

and the blade looks similar to this.

another question I had is, is this blade not meant for blackberry type bushes? I tried it on some in my backyard and it didn't seem to do a very good job (which is what lead me to think maybe I needed to sharpen it)

I appreciate the replies! I'm such a newbie when it comes to yard equipment!
