Guys I need help. I'm not real familiar with working on a lawn mower but guess I will be soon. When I engage the blades it makes a roaring sound and it is not cutting. I thought it was the belt so I replaced the belt but it didn't change anything. Can someone please point me in a direction. Thanks.

Probably a stuck/frozen pulley or the jack housing for the blade pulley.

With the mower OFF, transmission in neutral, you need to check each pulley that the belt spins on, including the one that drives the blade.

They should spin freely

That should help narrow it down to your problem.

Best of luck

I agree with Cliff on that check each of the pulleys on the deck, might also check and make sure the plate that holds the blade turns with the pulley may be something lose there too.
