I have a 27 hp Briggs and Stratton Vanguard engine on my IS2100 Ferris Zero turn.
Mowed with it last5 days ago and everything fine.
Brought it home and unloaded off trailer and has been sitting until today. Started and noticed smoke from exhaust. Moved to pad, changed blades then moved to grassy area. The minute I pulled the PTO I noticed a power loss and when I started mowing the loss became greater the faster I moved. Still smoking but not as much.
Any ideas or suggestions?
If the smoke dissapates quickly it could be water, but I suspect it is oil smoke and the power loss makes me think it is dropping a cylinder when running. May need put a spark checker on it while running to see if it is dropping fire to the plug, or may not be a bad idea to pull the valve covers and check the pushrods and the valve clearances. The Vanguards can drop or bend pushrods for unknown reasons.
