Hello everyone, I'm new here. I just purchased a low end ($400) mower with smart drive. I have found that because my lot has dips and bumps the mower will bounce somewhat causing my hands to make it speed up. Does anyone know of any adjustment that can set the max speed. I'm an old duck and don't relish the thought of chasing it too much.

Depending on the exact model, the adjuster on the smart drive cable can be changed to allow for a slower top speed, but could be turned too far, which would cause the drive to be engaged all the time. Most SmartDrive controls also have a grooved slide switch on the front that allows you to change the angle of the control; this might help in keeping it from moving in your hands too much.

You will mostly benefit from just more practice with the mower, and your muscles will become 'trained' to grip or release as your eyes see the next hill or valley approach.
