small engine filter pricing

Afternoon all

I went to the mower sales and repair shop this morning to get to get a oil filter for my country clipper mower to do the final oil change for the season and be ready for next years mowing season. And at the mower pair shop the filter was $ 6.95 each while in town i stop at the farm store a retail store to get some thing else and a oil filter for a different mower with a Kohler engine and the price at the retail store was 10.32 for the filter wow. So for me the place to get small engines filter is the mower& repair shop, the shop is a brigs & station dealer to . So i got one for my other mower to same price and that a Kohler engine and a Kohler filter. What a deal:confused2:

just curious, but what was the part number on those filters? I want to see how price compares in "this" part of the country

Ok it was the long filter or the bigger filter number was 491056 this is a Briggs number and the Kohler number was the bigger filter to with filter number 52 052 02-s. Check it out and see what you find, might get them cheaper on the Internet but have to pay shipping then too. :laughing:

Car Quest R85348 is the part number my cost is 2.18 i run the R85394 on my Exmark and ran the same filter on my Wheel Horse with the 20 Horse Kawasaki W/C ran it for years never any problems the second number i couldn't cross

WOW! they charge full blown retail out by you! Those filters only cost around $3.50 to us dealers, but it is so competitive out here, we never charge full retail. The same goes for blades. A $25.00 blade (retail) only costs us around $5.00. Thanks for letting me know the retail costs in "your" area.

i just bought a shop pk of 12 aftermarket filters for 2.08 ea. they list for 9.25 ea what would be a fair markup?

The problem with a 12 pack i wouldn't get them used up and i would have a different mower before i got through the 12 pak. I only put approximate 30 hour on that mower a year, so i change the oil once a year in the fall to get the old contaminated oil out for the winter. :licking:
