Either using a condensor designed for a induction ignition system on a battery ignition engine, or you have 12v going to the points/condensor that shouldn't have.

If you have a ballast resister on there, it's probably bad.

The condensers job is to adsorb the current when the point open to stop them from arcing and sticking. The disturber side of the coil has a bunch of volts,ex:7200 but hardly any amps . Amps would be the thing that would blow the end off. On the other disturber wire is the battery at 12 to 14 volts and 350 to 500 cold cranking amps. Some way I feel that condenser is hooked to the battery side of the coil. It is worth a look anyway. Please let us know what you find.
