Hello,
I have a Simplicity Prestige 2004 era. I was mowing recently when all of the sudden my front wheels went in opposite directions. I took it in and was told I had a broken steering spindle. I would like to repair this myself and have found the parts I need, however that's where the issue is. I found the parts diagram and it shows the part held together with a bolt from the top. However the actual part on my mower appears to be welded. My question is can anyone give me a hint on how to take this spindle out? I have attached a photo of my actual part (crudely circled in purple) and the diagram showing the bolt from the top.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mack

Maybe you could post your model # serial #. Is the spindle thats broken in the pictures? I can't see the parts break down clearly.

Post your model number please. I would definitely get a second opinion making sure it is the spindle and nothing else. Your talking about a major and dangerous
task here. If you choose to make repair yourself you will have to have flat level concrete floor, a jack, jack stands, scotch rear wheels, big hammer, big punch, wrenches, safety glasses & mechanics gloves, plenty of patience & time. You might want to consider taking it to Simplicity shop, if they have the part you'll probably get it back same or next day, plus they'll have all the tools, spindle might have to be pressed out of front axle with hydraulic press, not sure. Let us hear back from you soon, thanks.
