I replaced the 16 hp briggs and its been 2 weeks since I have worked on it and cant recall how the clutch goes on exactly, does anyone have a pick of one installed. The rectangular steal rod from the frame - does it slide into one of the slots on the clutch assembly??
You have to align the key in the center of the clutch to the keyway on the crankshaft. You also must insert the alignment rod on the frame with the slot on the clutch. If done right the clutch will only move about 1/4".
