Beginning of this season, my Scag Turf Tiger was being difficult to start when cold. So of course I started with the choke. It’s really hard to see the choke cable end without removing stuff, but it “appeared” to be functioning when I operated the lever. However, upon closer look, I realized that it was no longer attached to the choke plate actuator. As hopefully you can see in the photo (black knob-looking thingy..pardon the tech terms :), the thingy is PLASTIC and the cable attachment point had wallowed out and finally broken. Come on Scag, you’re better than that!
Replacement looked fairly involved, especially during mowing season. So my simple fix is just to simply reach behind my seat and manually rotate the thingy to engage choke. When it cranks just let go and it springs open. Ready to mow!
Hopefully this helps someone else and happy mowing!
