Silverpro Dura Force 6.5 hp - shuts off after a couple of minutes

My Silverpro Dura Force mower will start but shuts off after a few minutes. Looks like it runs out of fuel. After a minute or so it will start but does the same thing. I changed the coil and sparkplug, and cleaned the carburator. Any suggestions?
 
These motors (that I've seen) have a rubber like float seat. The original rubber doesn't seem to like today's gas and swells up a bit, lowers the fuel level and restricts the flow into the carb. See replacements on -thatauctionsite- for a couple dollars. Might take the carb off, remove bowl, turn it up side down and see if the float sits mostly level as it should.
