I now own a 12 year old Scotts 17.5 hp Kohler with a 42" cut mower. I am looking at either a John Deere D140, a Cub Cadet LTX 1046M (Kohler) or a LTX1046KW, which has a Kawasaki engine. After reading many online reviews I am leaning towards the CC with the Kawasaki engine. I would appreciate any information pro and con concerning these mowers. Tks, 983K

I too have been looking at 42inch mowers. I looked at JD, CC and Husqvanna and Craftsman. After reading everything I could find I settled on the Craftsman T3000, 20390

Read the above review.
Took delivery of mower last Tuesday and got a chance to use it this weekend. It's everything it's advertised to be.

Re: Shopping fore new riding lawn mower and I finally made a purchase!

After months of research, I just purchased the Craftsman T3000- 20390- 42", vtwin tight turn w/ automatic transmission and other than the terrible delivery service by Sears and the fact that the bolts to connect the battery wires where missing, this mower rides, handles and cuts great! The tight turning radius is amazing and the vtwin makes for a smooth comfortable ride. It's got more speed than you may need (if that's possible) but, keep those blades nice and sharp and you can fly through the job! My question is, With it having the tight 6" turning radius, does that mean that there needs to be more "play" in the front tires? I've only given it a quick test cut and plan on going through every nut and bolt to make sure it's tight and to spec. I like the metal hood and the ease of getting on & off. Comfortable seat and so far, great machine and the automatic transmission is my preference. Mows in reverse just as well as forward. My biggest issue so far, is the service and delivery service by Sears was terrible!
