Shindaiwa EB45 Walbro carb

I've got this old blower I like a lot. I was rebuilding the carburetor and I broke part of it :ashamed:
The part is called a purge valve assembly... and it's NLA. I'm hoping somebody who reads this had an EB45 and adapted another carb to work. And remembers which carb it was ;)

I might be wrong but im sure you could cross reff that carb to an updated application, take it to your local small engine shop and they might be able to do so.im sure they used that same carb for yrs and on trimmers too

Thanks. I looked into that but I may have missed something.

Post all of the numbers off of the carb,
any mower/saw shop can get the part from Walbro easily....

Appreciate the help but been there, done that etc.
I want to point out that I'm pretty resourceful and self sufficient. I don't ask for help or advice unless I really have exhausted all other possibilities but I understand you get a lot of people that aren't like this.
I'm getting emails back now... "sorry but we don't have that part...it's NLA from the manufacturer and will remove it from our site now"
Walbro tell me this:
You may contact our largest Central Warehouse Distributor, V.E. Petersen Co. at info@vepetersen.com or call them at 800-537-6212. I can稚 promise they値l have any inventory of this air purge assembly but if anyone is going to have any it will be V.E. Petersen Co.

Thank- you

Dang, I was actually digging around for Luis's business card, I usually talk with him at the Expo in Louisville every fall.

Put up some pics of your whole carb, with a little work, you could put a different model carb on it, might have to swap the throttle shaft or something, but it can be done.

I'm thinking that's my best bet. Or find a purge valve assembly that matches up. They can't all be that different. They purge air from the lines and prime the carb through the bulb right? I'm thinking that if the mounting holes line up and it has the little ball bearing check valve (don't they all?) that any assy that fits should work.
I'll get some pics soon. Going to be busy with another project today.
Building a cat house. No, not that kind ;)

Actually, it does not "prime" the carb, but pulls fuel through the carb, sends the excess back to the tank, and "purges" all of the air out of the carb for easier starting with the choke.

That's pretty much my idea of what priming a fuel system means :)
I've just about decided to write this blower off. I found a new carb from a similar EB blower. Installed it and the bulb pulls fuel through the carb. And it still doesn't even attempt to fire. The purge assy on the old carb wouldn't pull fuel so I know that was at least part of the problem. Now I have fuel, spark, and compression and no start. Maybe a timing issue or a stuck valve. I may check the intake valve and the key on the crank shaft to make sure it hasn't sheared.

The blower will fire up with gas poured into the carb so I know the engine and ignition are okay.
Maybe this carb just isn't right for this blower even tho it fits and uses the same gaskets? It's an eb630 carb.

A stuck valve.... did I really write that?
Wish this thing did have valves... I'd try adjusting them ;)
I got it to start tonight w/o pouring gas in the carb. Had to pull the starter a bunch and open the throttle more than halfway to get it to fire up. It ran just like it did before it quit. Runs fine for a few seconds then it bogs out. Fuel starvation right? I put a new fuel filter on but it may not be big enough.

Got it to run pretty good today. At total WOT the a/f ratio seems to go bad but at 90% throttle it runs great and blows hard. Doesn't idle for **** tho. Maybe the carb is really too much. I know there's a big difference between a 45cc engine and a 60cc engine. Waiting on a bigger fuel filter to see if that helps anything. Also need to rig up the throttle since the brackets are way different on the two carbs. If I get it running good enough it may be a good time to sell it and buy something I can get parts for ;) Most of the critical parts on this thing are NLA. Too bad bc it's still a great engine. I'd trade the Echo and Stihl machines for Shindaiwa any day.

Okay, other than rigging up a new throttle cable bracket I'm going to say it's fixed. I think I'm talking to myself anyway

yeah... unfortunately it doesn't idle and still isn't reliable.

Went ahead and sold it. The guy seemed happy with it and thinks he knows a guy that can get the priming and idle problems fixed. Hope so... the engine has a lot of life left in it.
