I have an older craftsman 12 horse power 4 speed with a snow plow set up. When under pressure(trying to move to much snow) I cant shift out of gear. I have to shut the motor down, wait a couple of minutes and then it shifts fine. I was told that it's because my brakes are sticking. Any thoughts on this? Thank you!

I don't think it would be your breaks, turning it off wounldent help. I think that it is the rear end binding up as you have stoped and the wheels are still touqred, this is a common problem with my off road tractors and I have to get off an roll it back a few inches to change gears
