Hey yall I'm back lol. So, today I went to mow the yard and when I checked the oil it looked excessively dirty, which got me curious because it's fresh oil (only a week or two old) So, I drained some into a container and sure enough it's murky, emulsified with gasoline and there's aluminum shavings floating in the oil. I grabbed my compression tester, hooked it up and got a reading of 50 PSI. The lawn mower shop gave me a ballpark compression of 70 pounds. Anybody have a more exact answer as to what the compression should be? It's a 140CC Briggs 550E series, model number 9P 702 0004 F1.

If there are metal shavings in the engine oil, the engine is literally eating itself alive internally. Therefore, that engine is toast. It will only continue to wear down and cause problems. I believe the compression level would be in the range of 70-90 psi at the most.

Let me know if you have any further questions. I will be happy to answer them!
