I have a Kohler 18 command engine. Front seal is leaking badly. Have the motor out of mower. All the pulleys off. Need to find the right seal for the horizontal shaft. I did find some numbers on the seal front: A377823, is this the number for the seal?

That's the seal manufacturer's number for it. If you can identify the brand, you're in business. A place like IBT (http://ibtinc.com/) can cross reference it if they don't carry that brand.
If all else fails, all you really need to know is the seal O.D., the shaft O.D., type (single or double lip; probably a single); and thickness of the seal.
