Self-Propelled function not working and won't roll backward - Honda

Lent my Honda Quad-Cut 4 in 1 mower to a friend and it came back with the self-porpelled feature no longer working. Additionally, the rear wheels won't roll backward. Prefer to fix it myself. Any ideas?

I can get you some troubleshooting info if you'll share the frame serial number; it is on the back edge of the mower deck.

Okay, that is what is known as "K8" model and here are the troubleshooting steps to follow (see attached files) in order 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc.

If you need more details, you should probably get the factory shop manual. Honda sells them direct on eBay and Amazon with free shipping:
