Scratching my head/possible fuel problem

I have not been able to figure this dude out. After a long winter setting outside, I finally de-winterized my crafstmen LTS 1500, 42” deck,17.5 horsepower briggs and straton mower and tried to fire her up - she wld not start. I thought it was the carburetor, so I took it apart and cleaned it; put it back together and still the same. I am getting plenty of spark, it just acts like it is getting no fuel. I blew through the fuel intake port and air could be heard going through the carburetor fine. There is no fuel in float; float seems level and the needle seems ok to me, but i'm no expert. Fuel is running out of the fuel line fine, but I am going to get a new inline filter anyway. There seems to be good compression, just not sure were to go from here. I'm thinking something could be wrong with the valves or valve seat, but don't want to go that route until I eliminate all the more simple possible culprits.
Could somebody help me out please?

Hi, mowery, welcome to LMF!

Does your carb have an electric dohickey on the bottom of the bowl? That thing will shut off the fuel. It might be shot, or maybe getting power to it is the problem.........
