I have a scott model 50567x riding mower from home depot. My hydrostatic transaxle had failed after 550 hours. The replacement axles are quite expensive. I would like to replace the hydrostatic drive with a manual one. I can't find any information from anyone and would like to know if there is a compatible manual axle available. I can fabricate linkages and such to make one work if I knew where to find one. It is a very good mower and well maintained and I may replace the origional axle with the $700 -$800 dollar axle if I have to. I would rather convert to a manual. Anybody familiar with my mower that may be able to help? The replacemant axle nmber is 799031. The origional is a vst205-023b. This is a peerless axle. This axle is not servicable and am familiar with the oil change repairs but dont want to spend the money to just to buy time.

Yes. I replaced the belt and made sure it was not slipping. Also make sure I had full range on pedal. I am a mechanic at fords and have experience in many things but I need resources to find out whether I can convert my tractor to a manual one. Thank you for your comment. Sometimes we look for the hard things when it is something simple.
