I recently purchased a new 2011 48 inch Scag walk behind. Initially it would start with relative ease on the first pull. I have only used it about 6 times and have had difficulty starting it the last few times. Instead of 1 pull, it was taking 4-8-12 before firing up.
The past week it will only start if I use some starting fluid. Once it starts it sounds fine. Any suggestions? I have had some back problems recently so the repeated efforts at starting this beast are not favoring me.
I prefer not to take it back for service since it's a relative PITA and I figure since it is new it should be a simple fix.
Hi Wahoo007 and welcome to LMF, There's a lot of good folks here.
I would take the air cleaner off first and check to see if any of the linkages fell off. Could be something
stupid as a choke link that came off. Also if you have a fuel shut off make sure its open all the way, this
sounds stupid but you never know....cubby
