hi I have very little experience with repairs and I am wondering if there is a manual explaining how I can change the deck belt on my mower??

Operators manual has the info. If you need a manual, you can download it at the Scag website, but you will need the machine serial number to find your specific manual.
Actually the operators manual doesn't cover v belt changes.
There are deck belt idler and tensioner pulleys. The tensioner pulley is mounted on an arm that has a spring attached to it to pull in tension. There is a square hole in it and I use a 1/2" breaker bar and a long extension installed in the square hole and turn the breaker bar to release the tension and remove the V belt. Reverse the procedure with a new belt. It is better to have another person to assist in doing this job. While the V belt is off, check the pulleys and spindles for security and drag on the bearings.
