I have a Scag model STT61-25ch Ser #4310274. Starts up and runs fine for 5 to ten minutes. Sometimes will shut off again in about 30 sec Sometimes will run longer.
It will do this whether your on it or not. Deck on or off. I've replaced fuel filter and fuel lines. Any ideas?

Find the tag on the engine and find the spec number, it will help. Thanks.
Tag is pretty worn. Model # is CH25S/ Family SKH725U1G2RA SER # 2829418121/SPEC#68613

Fuel solenoid on the carb failing possibly. For a 98 model how many hours does it have on the engine.

Yah, you have SmartSpark, which is real squirrelly. So the easiest, first thing to look at, is look at the back of your keyswitch, where the wires plug on, and look for corrosion.

I had a similar problem with my FD661D Kawasaki engine on a BUSH HOG ZERO TURN MOWER. Out of the blue, it was suddenly losing power/dying; but always with the blades engaged and the engine under load, and mostly after it gets hot. FOR ME, IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. Got one on ebay from FLIP for $22. It appears that something in the wires going into the pump was arcing or breaking down, causing the engine to starve/die. I'M A HAPPY GUY!!!

The newer scag's have a decimal in the hour meter, so 16 is 1.6 and 215 is 21.5 hours.
May not be the same on that model though. I think mine actually shows the ( . )
