I have a Craftsman BoB Villa Special model (917. 274040) which used to have the 21hp briggs on it and now has a 19.5 briggs. The last time I used the mower no problems. Went to go mow the grass this weekend and now engine starts fine....release the clutch or engage the blades the engine dies. So I think its the seat safety switch. Check continuity between the two wires going to the switch and its there. check continuity in the switch. when depressed (if someone were sitting on the seat) there is none. When released there is continuity. Not sure how its supposed to be on my model.
