Hi everyone, I've had this sv735-oo17 craftsman rider for 5 years, last fall it decided to go on vacation from mowing, with a little over an acre to mow I had to by a small substitute until I got it fixed. A shop told me it needed a new carb and had a burned valve, about $800 to fix, hell a new motor is only $1000, so I declined and brought it home, im just now getting time to work on it again, I did a compression test, warmed it up throttle w/open, I got 168 on one and 190 on the other, wouldn't a burned valve show on this test, it only has 159 hours on it. The problem is it runs very rich, I took the carb off, cleaned it very good last fall, it was pretty damn clean to begin with, I can change the plugs and it runs great for about 30 to 45 min until the plugs foul, I checked the fuel shutoff solenoid last fall and it seemed to be workin, I adjusted the float yesterday [earlier shutoff] but to no avail. Im out of ideas, any help would be appreciatd, could the solenoid cause this,
Oh sorry its a 26hp kohler courage, one site I went to wanted $260 for a carb kit, but they didn't say what was in it, anyone know where I can get a new carb w/fuel solenoid for a reasonable price.
Ordered a carb kit, yeah the shop I had it in last fall said the solenoid could make it rich, and that a carb rebuild wouldn't do any good, I needed a new one. At the time I didn't know any better, I guess i'll rebuild the carb and hope that fixes it, anything else that could make it run rich?, THANKS!
Hi. I just ordered a new carb from Sears and installed it and the tractor runs like new.Online the price was $300+ but when I called the parts number to order it was $127.00. Sears is having trouble making money since Kmart bought them so you might want to call and see the price there. I had cleaned my original one (12 years old) but it didn't run any better. Mine is a 21.5 HP Itek I/C engine. Good luck!
