My old B&S OHV 303777-0122 (date code 90021511) has a broken rocker arm (part 1029 from part manual) which has 5/8" holes on the sides (see the attached photo) to let a shaft (690693) to go through it. But the new (supposedly) replacement part 807323 doesn't have holes. How would I find the old rocker arm, or try to retrofit the new 80732 into the engine? I have also got new parts pivot (791959) and stud (809157) but can't figure out how to fit them to the old engine.
Without seeing the engine, would it be possible to replace both rockers with the new style, and also replace the pivots, and studs, eliminating the rod parts.
Thanks for a quick note. I have been thinking about the same last night. However, the diameter of old stud (the stud hole, and the pivot hole) are larger than the the new (current) ones. Therefore, the retrofit would not be straightforward. The part manual says all these old parts were replaced by the new ones without saying the diameters are different. That was why I would ask the experts in the forum to see if anyone has encountered the same issue for these early 90's engines or if anyone has scraped part from old engine.
Yeah, you have an old style head and I think all you can do is replace the head OR hopr to find an old style one junked. I have a call into a guy who MIGHT have an old style head or rocker arms. Will try to let you know ASP.
