My mower is a Craftsman 18hp with a Briggs Stratton 31C700 Engine with a Nikki Carburetor. I could be mowing and my mower will cut out. If I wait a while, about 30 mins, it will start again and repeat lthe problem. One thing I did was to disconnect the gas line and blow in to the carburetor and it seems like it clogged, like the float might be stuck closed. If I take it apart, it is very clean, no clogs. I actuate the float up and down sereral time and it doesn't stick, so that doesn't seem to be t he problem. It's like something shuts the gas down and won't let it in the carburetor.
Your engine is showing symptoms of a gas cap with a vent hole that's partially plugged. It could possibly be other things causing it but the fix won't get any cheaper than the vent problem.

Hey there zuko! WELCOME to LawnMowerForum!
I moved your thread to the Small Engine & Mower Repair Forum. You'll get a better response there.
P.S. Is Zuko your name or is that a play off of Grease?
could be the fuel solenoid on the carb cutting out and stopping fuel flow to the engine causing it to die. had one last year that would do that also. if you cranked the engine it won't start but if you shut off key first and then back on it would start right back up. the plastic tip of the solenoid was coming off and shutting off the fuel. when key was shut off it would reset the tip and then restart.

Are you sure its fuel related, or is it the coil heating up cutting out??
