I have a Toro Personal Pace Lawn mower. I can start it only using starter fluid. I can then mow approx. 10 minutes, then she chokes out. This TORO 6.5HP RECYCLER has electric start, battery and is self propelled.
Thank you for helping me with this Problem.

Post all numbers from engine data plate or sticker, example: B&S engine: model xxxxxx, type xxxx, trim xx & code number, first check oil level, is oil black & does it need changed? air filter, fuel filter & spark plug need replaced? adjust valves with engine cold per manual specs. remove carburetor, disassemble completely & clean thoroughly with carburetor cleaner, visual inspection, reassemble, reinstall.

Rick , these new carb compliant units have a real problem with Ethanol fuels . If you have not been using fuel conditioner you most likely have a restricted fuel circuits . Depending on how long the mower has sat will determine how bad the situation is . I usually advise to simply add one ounce of concentrated fuel cleaner to the fuel tank and let it sit for over night . Then in the morning remove the air filter and try restarting the mower . Once it starts let it run for 10-15 minutes , inspect you air filter and replace or clean . Then replace air filter , inspect engine oil , top up if required and restart mower and give it a load test . If mower will not run properly, you may also need to replace the plug and or service the carb as previously recommended . Try the fuel cleaner soak 1st , then get back to us I suspect to may also have a auto choke situation which may be the cause of the starter fluid usage . The butter fly under the air filter should be completely closed on start up if partially open then it is defective . P.S. Use carb cleaner for priming , not starter fluid !
