30 days ago I purchased the 675AWD. Nice mower, no complaints, except ity leaves clumps of grass all over. My lawn is cut at 2.5 - 3 inches high. it is lush. I mow every 3-4 days with all the rain and cannot get a completely clean cut. Need a mulching mower $300 or so. Any help?

The best mulcher I've used is the Honda HRX series, but they're a bit over your budget. The HRR is a great mulcher too just not as good as the HRX. I haven't tried the Toro Super Recycler, but the regular Recycler, while not as good as the Hondas, is probably the best mulcher <$300 new.

Thanks so much for your reply. I am leaning towards the Honda HRR216K9VKA $399.00 at home depot. Sooooo many conflicting reviews on the Toros, and even the Honda's, it is a tough decision. First, though, I will visit a dealer and see if that is the route to go. Again, appreciate the help.

Out of experience with Briggs, Tecumseh, and Honda motors, Honda's have most sensitive carbs to stale fuel. Make sure you use fresh 89+ octane gas mixed with a good fuel stabilizer at all times. With going stale so fast only commercial operators use their gasoline fast enough...

Good info. I have had several mowers over the years. Had a used Honda that I loved. I purchased a 'JD' js320 at Lowes, I never liked it and prefer not to be duped again. Many mowers just seem to be re-logoed variations of a few manufacturers. Hondas are all their own design and manufacturing. The Toros at HD didn't instill much confidence in me, but I definatley could me wrong. I have a small lot and mow frequenly. Would like as good a cut as possible.

I just returned the Husky to Lowes 33 days after purchase. No questions asked. No receipt, owners manual, or box. They were great. Purchased Honda HRR216K9VKA on line and awaiting notification from Home Depot to go pick it up. Thanks to all online as I've been scouring the forums.

Just finished my first mow. Beautiful machine, plenty of power, goes TOO fast. Nice cut, light weight, maneuverable. For $100.00 more than the HU675AWD, it is leaps better in my opinion.
The Smart drive control is as cumbersome and fatigue-causing as any other I've used, but has a wide range of adjustment, so it should suffice. Mower propels very quickly and requires minute adjustments for me at lower speed.
Owners manual states annual service of flywheel brake pad and valve clearance. This service will require me to visit a dealer I suspect, my only concern.

I will probably return this to HD and go and make my final purchase at the 'local' dealer. Same $399 price, so I will see if they will throw in a free gas can so I can start afresh and not contaminate my new carburetor.

Unfortunately, Honda doesn't offer the hydrostatic transmission in their lower cost HRR line, you basically have to step up to the HRX series. I had the same issue as you and could never get use to the smart drive control. I've owned Honda mowers for 12 years and never had to do valve adjustments. If you use it commercially all bets are off however...

PS And always put an Ethanol fuel stabilizer like Startron or Marine Sta-bil in your fuel..
