Whats up fellas? Hope you knowledgeable people can Help.
I just purshased a new B&S Quantum 6.5 engine from Small Engine Wharehouse. After uncrating it yesterday and dry fitting it to the deck , I decovered that it doesn't fit flush to the deck as the Tecumech did. This my first time tackeling a project like this. It (The B&S) sits up about 1/4". Should I return it, or bolt it in place and seal the voyd W/ a sealent (like RTV)? It has been difficult geting help from B&S and Tecumesh as they are now out of busniess and the Dealer which now sells Toro won't help me I guess because they want to sell me a new Lawn mower.
Can anyone on this fourm shead some light on this project? Frustrated!!!!!:confused2: Appreciate any info and advice.:thumbsup:

OH, By the way My Lawnboy was purchased about 6 yrs ago. It is (10685) 21" Insite , W/select a speed, discharge, mulch & rear bager. Everything works well, except the blown Tecumech engine.

THANKS in Advance

Lawnmower engines mostly use the same footprint but appearances may differ.

As long as the lenght of the crank shaft is the same you should be ok.
Measure crankshaft lenght from end of crank to base of fitment which fits on mower deck.

Yes Tecumseh are out of business but Briggs are still the biggest manufacturer of air cooled engines making approx 12 - 15 million a year.
The Quantum is a good engine.

Thanks for your quick response. Both length 3 5/32" and diameter 25MM are the same. I may haave to add a shim to the bladedriver because of the 1/4" difference. If I get some grass blowing by the deck, can I sseal the void with sealent like RTV?

Thanks again for your input:thumbsup::laughing:
