Replaceing Lawnboy Tecumech 149cc W/ New engineB&S 6.5 Hp. doesn't fit flush to deck

I just purshased a new B&S Quantum 6.5 engine from Small Engine Wharehouse. After uncrateing it yesterday and fitting it to the deck I decovered that it doesn't fit flush to the deck as the Tecumech. This my first time replaceing an engine. It sits up about 1/4". Should I return it, or bolt it in place and seal the voyd W/ a sealent (like RTV)? Frustrated!!!!!:confused2: Appreciate any info and advice.

OH, By the way The Lawnboy was purchased about 6 yrs ago. It is (10685) 21" Insite , W/select a speed, discharge, mulch & rear bager. Everything works well, except the Tecumech blew.

Do the mounting bolts on the engine fit the deck flush ? Is there play after tightening it down?

No, no slack in the bolts. They fit flush to the deck, and suprizeingly after everything hucked up, there's no blow by and, other than the stop engine cable to long ( have to replace it) and hood or cow top has to be replaced because it is for the Tecumech not for the B&S. BTW does any one know where I could get a cover for a Quantum 6.5 HP B&S engine cheep?

Thanks for the info Will up load picks of the rebuild.
