remove roll bar

My Toro has the roll bar like most larger ZT mowers. My yard is almost entirely flat so no chance of rollovers. But do have some trees I mow under and the bar catches the branches. Mine does not have the quick release knobs to lower bar but can be unbolted and folded down or just unbolt and take off completely. Has anyone else done this with their ZT.

I would just take it off. its probably not likely that you will roll on your kind of yard

I removed mine after the first mowing.

Most people on this forum will disagree with me, but I never advocate removing the roll bar. You can lower your top section by removing the top bolt and loosening the second bolt, to tip the top section down. Then tighten the second bolt to make sure it does not move.

I don't disagree with Rivets. I'd leave the roll bar in place. Saying things like probably not likely that you will roll or no chance of rollovers is what you may call the famous last words. It's there for a reason. I hate mine too but I'd never remove it.

Did take the rollbar completely off and like it being removed. But the way the lower part of the bar is mounted it also gives support to the engine guard that surrounds the engine and the guard is not stable without it. So I will at least be putting the lower bar section back on.

I would never take my roll bar off. But that's because I do all types of yards. Some with some pretty steep banks. But if I was just doing my yard and it was all flat, then I don't see it being a problem. I think all residential mowers don't even have roll bars. So I don't think it's a big deal if your just doing your yard.
