I have a Bolens. 12A-414A065 21” mower. I will not start. I am trying to remove the carburetor. I removed the air filter and housing for the flywheel. I removed the fuel hose and theee screws that hold down the carburetor It is made of plastic but do not want to pry too hard for fear of breaking something. Any recommendation?
That model mower was manufactured for 4 years and depending on which year you have it may be a Briggs or Kohler engine. Please provide us with all engine numbers so we know what you are working on.
Take the 1/2" head bolt out (near the breather tube) and remove the entire tank and carburetor, then the carburetor will lift up off the tank if all the screws are out.
Watch for a spacer to fall out between the tank and engine block.
First the model number you posted is not the same as the model number on the tag in picture #4. What gives? Second, as IL states you need to remove the tank, before you can remove the carb. Third, when you remove the carb I would highly recommend that you replace the pump diaphragm. Fourth, you will find all engine numbers on the blower housing, just above the spark plug when it was mounted on the engine. PS, I think there are 4 screws holding the carb to the tank.
Thank you edit all the replies gentlemen. It has been raining all day today so hopefully I can tackle this tomorrow. It looks like all the information I need
