New to the forums here. I work as a maintenance supervisor at a parks and recreation dept. in Tennessee. We own a reelmaster 5500D that has not cut right for years. We are always backlapping and once a year send off the cutting units for grinding. Last year the back two cutting units were cutting a little higher than the front three. I worked on this thing for two weeks trying to figure out what was going on. I set all the cutting units to the same height, and also set the attitude on all units the same. Nothing. Still higher on the back units. We had some hydraulic seals replaced on the rear lift arms figuring it was not putting enough pressure on the back units. Same thing. To make sure it was not in the units themselves, i took two off the front and swapped them to the back and still higher. I have went by the book on setting all the units and also i set the spring on the back units to allow the most downforce on the back units. Has anyone ever seen this particular mower have this issue, I think it is still in the hydros, but the dealership and other turf guys have NO IDEA!
Taking me to this year, we had some cutting units that were missing grass in the middle of the unit. After backlapping for about 20 min. We do a paper test on the blades to make sure they are sharp. The paper will cut on the sides and not in the middle??? I replaced the bedknives with brand new ones, backlapped the new ones and still cutting on the side and not in the middle. Any answers???
