There are exterminators in Florida that say they can rid your yard of fire ants with a new state of the art insecticide.
I have no first hand information as to the credibility of same. I can tell you that I have never been able to rid my property of these pests. In my opinion they are as bad as any insect you can name even worse than sand gnats, mosquitos, or yellow flies. I will not go barefoot past my front door. I do my best to keep them at bay with baits and pesticides.
I like to use a variety of these things ecause ants are genetically adavntaged in that they reproduce in fantastic numbers and develope resistance to chemicals. Ue the spectracide product that you have to water in to kill large numbers then follow up with the bait (amdro or firestrike). I try not to harm other types of ants that may offer competition.
