Hi,

So my mower seized up today. The bolts that connected the crankcase to the engine were loose and the oil leaked out. I can still turn it over, but it is very stiff. I worked on it a bit, I even had to remove the pull start housing and put a socket on the nut to rotate the shaft.

So I am wondering if this is rebuildable? If so, can I still order parts and such? Is there an available rebuild kit? Do I order from Honda?

Thanks.

Have you tried tightening bolts and replacing oil? Might lube back up.

Yes its rebuildable will require a tear down and find out what needs to be replaced. And replace bearings, seals, gaskets, rings etc etc

Once you have a list go to your local Honda dealer

Yep, already went through the bolts and put new oil in. Even put a little oil down the spark plug hole, pulled the cord a number of times, reinstalled the plug. After a number of pulls it fired and ran for about 5 seconds or so, but then stopped short. Couldn't use the pull cord after that, but it still turns with a wrench.

So I found an HRA214 for sale about an hour away. Went and looked at it and it is in beautiful condition. It even still has some remnants of silver paint under the mower deck. Oil was clean and started up nicely, no smoke. It now resides in my shop . I think I will still rebuild the motor on my older one anyways, it deserves it.
