Question about rims on a Yard Machines tractor

I just bought a Yard Machines by MTD. It is one of the larger ones with high and low with a 7 speed. and 18.5 B&S engine..
The rims on the left side have the valve stems on the inside and the rims on the right side have the valve stems on the outside. And the rims are not on backwards.
Anybody have any idea why it would be that way?

maybe the rims where damaged at some time, and the rims superceded to a different part number. Are you sure the rims are not on backwards. If you turn them around do they still fit. The back rim should have divots like you would see on car rims. if the lug nuts tighten down into the recessed area they are on backwards. Those rims fit the opposite direction of logic. You tighten the lug nut down on the raised area not into the recessed area.

I will double check them. One side of the rim is deeper than the other. And the deep part of the rim is out on both sides.

The raised portion is facing out on both rims.

Maybe you can take a picture of each rim so we can see better.

MTD at some point changed from valve stems on the outside to valve stems on the inside. Mid 2000's if I remember correctly. Could be a case that the original rims got damaged for some reason, and when the original owner went to replace them, they had superceded to the newer style rim

Well if they made that change then that would explain it.

I see what you mean about the rims. I think ILENGINE is right about the newer rims superseding older rims. Nice tractor you have. I have a older one, it's a 1990 Heckinger 18/46. MTD 848 series. I like it a lot.

The steering bushings are bad in this one, that is why it was sold. I have the parts on order. Gave $125 for it. It runs put I did not drive it much because I could not steer it. I would like to find a sleeve hitch for it.
