Do all the 2-cycle era Lawnboys that have a pull-start as well as electric-start work without the electric-start system working? Can you just pull-start them like any other mower?

Simple answer, Yes. Most of the time it will be easier to pull start, if you keep it well tuned.

for what they get for a battery you will be happy pull starting it.
