I recently purchased a Murray push mower and was getting help from my neighbor to help set it up and get it ready for me to use. He poured the oil in the wrong compartment and it started up fine and was fine for 5 minutes and then it cut off and now it won't start again. After checking everything come to find out he put the oil where the gas is pushed through by pressing the primer injector under the filter. If anyone can help that would be great! Thank you!!

Remove the gas tank and empty its contents then fill it back up with fresh fuel. Check the spark plug and make sure its not oil soaked; probably not but worth checking anyway. Remove the air cleaner cover and filter then blow air into the carb to clear out any residual oil. Reinstall the spark plug and see if she'll fire up. If so, great! If not, then you should remove and clean the carb. The good news is you didn't hurt anything a good cleaning won't correct. Don't forget to add oil back to the crankcase before attempting a start. Good luck!!

You didn't say that he put the oil in the fuel tank, but in the primer? I don't understand exactly where or how he did this.
