watched a video on leaking sump engine and removing camshaft to check it. Lined up timing marks on camshaft and timing gear to pull cs out and it came out no problem. Thing is I can,t the cs back in through the lifers. I,m new to all this. Can I get the cs in without tsking the rods out. It came out easy. Removing the push rods will allow you to push the tappets out of the way. and you will need to adjust the valve clearances anyway so doesn't require much extra work.

I will be doing what you suggested and thanks again, but how is it that the camshaft came out so easy when I lined up cs and timing gear for to dot. Just giggled it out. What changed that I cannot reinsert ithe same way? Can,t giggle it back in? Again I,m new to all this.

At least one valve was being held partially open by the camshaft lobes and since they are sitting on the tappets there is nothing to prevent slipping of the tappets, but the spring pressure will prevent them from being reinserted easily.
