On my john deere with a kohler magnum 18 i have had a small puddle of oil under the front of the mower for a while but yesterday i drove it out and had smoke coming out from under the hood and the i realized that oil was being sprayed up on the muffler by the pto shaft.

I got the part on friday. Im wondering how dose it go on do i have to pull the motor or can i get to it after pulling off the pto. I have never replaced one of these so anything will help.
Here is a Kohler manual for your engine. Yes you probably have to pull the engine to get the clutch or pulley off. Don't forget to make sure to clean the shaft extremely well to make sure you don't cut the new seal when you install it. Any other questions post back and I'll try to help.
I pulled the motor today got the pto off and pulled the back plate that has the seal in it. Then i looked at the new seal compared to the old one and john deere gave me the wrong part, i am going back to the dealer after school tomorrow and hopefully have it running tomorrow.
