PTO fire

We have a super z that's about a year old, at first a weird smell could be noticed while being used. Then we smelled smoke, fuze popped and the mower shut off. After crawling under the mower we seen this (see attachment). Any idea what would cause this to catch fire?

First I would call the dealer since the Super Z is a year old. As for the cause, it's possible it had been slipping while engaged and overheated the clutch then shorted the electrical line to the clutch and thus popping the fuse and shutting down the machine... IMHO. A qualified mecanic should be able to diagnose the root cause better than I.
