Problems Starting Troy Built Riding Mower

Hey there,

Recently bought a used troy built riding mower. I hit a fallen branch (mostly rotted, about 3 in diameter) and it stalled and wouldn't start back up. When I turn the key nothing happens. When I hit the solenoid it tries to turn over then makes a buzzing noise. Video clip below, the buzzing noise comes on the second attempt in the clip. Any help on this would be immensely appreciated. Have not been able to mow my lawn once since I got this mower. :frown:

Check your battery also...

My similar story...
I hit a 3inch branch...mower died and would not restart.
I towed to shop.

The push rod on valve is aluminum...It had a thin spot where it rubbed. The branch was not enough to shear a key but the kickback through the belts caused the rod to collapse...I ordered rod, replaced, set valve clearance and back in business.

Briggs and Stratton engine
