See attached pic - smoke was pouring from this hole and eventually died , lotsa metal shavings. Obviously I need to replace the pump, a few questions : 1) What happened ? 2) Could there be any other damage outside of the pump itself ? and 3) it's a 6 hp Briggs , can I upgrade the pump from 2100 to maybe 2700 or so psi ? Thanks

Go to the manufactures website and they should be able to direct you to parts.
Go to Ebay and see if your part is out there.
Most of these pumps are "do not disturb" pumps with no serviceable parts.
That it apart and you will see what caused the destruction.
Or just go get another one at 2700 PSI.

Pump ran dry like oil leaked out and cooked the bearing/swatch plate. pump not worth repairing at this point. You should be able to upgrade the pump providing the engine will reasonable pull the extra load.

Engine will need sped up. Govenor adjustment to handle the extra load. With that I would change the oil more often and running the engine faster will create hotter temps and speed up the oil breakdown. Can easily find a pump to push 2700 psi look to commercial machines for parts. ( I just did this actually about a month ago sold it for $200)
