On my Poulan self-propelled mower, the drive wheels won't free-wheel with the drive disengaged when I try to pull back, as when mowing under low trees etc.

It started as an occasional problem and is now the norm and I end up just dragging it back with the rear wheels locked. Mover is about 3 years old.

My wife will thank you for any good solutions.

I have a very good craftsman self propelled push mower, know exactly what you mean!!! Huge pain! With mine what all it is, that the self propelled lever is sticking and won't let go. Try pushing the lever in twice before backing it up and that may free the lock up of the wheels. Depending on if your push mower is the same set up (with the levers to engage the wheels) then this should work. Good luck!
