Poor hot starts with my Gold Pro 6.5hp

13yr old gold pro 6.5hp nearly impossible to start if shut off while hot for more than 1 minute. Replaced ignition coil last year, at least now it cold starts well but not when hot. Seems to run extra smoky and throttle control is not precise. Do I need a new carb?

I was told (by LawnBoy and members of this forum) difficulty when restarting when hot can be attributed to worn crankshaft seals.

You just have to change the oil seals.
