cub cadet GT2542 (14A-2D2G710), ser 1E116G10010, DOM 5/2006, bought new in 2006.
Have Gator blades mounted, but the deck skirt (783-1146A) removed, also removed the water nozzle (721-04041). Changes made in attempt to improve cutting.
Problem- deck always get too much cut grass bonded to the deck underside causing very poor grass cutting until the attached clumps are removed via hose down from underneath plus some scrapping.
Granted this has been going on for many years but I am now 82 and the cleaning is getting to be too much. Yard is 2 acres. Looking for advise as to how to get a clean cut without all the cleaning out of the cut grass. I don’t know about the later years design but looking for options. Some things pondered are listed below.
1- do later 42s still have this same problem?
2- do the larger 3 blade 52” decks have the same issues?
3- Is this an overall cub cadet issue that other brands may not have?
I also have a snow blade that gets swapped out each year (VT) but its a hybrid blade that takes a bit much work to mount but at least its only once a year and help is available.
