Picked this gem up yesterday

Hello all, new poster on the forum. Ive been lurking for a while and finally decided to join after my recent purchase.
Ive had several two stroke lawn boys through the years and have always kicked myself for getting rid of them. (especially the duraforce).
I picked this one up on craigslist yesterday for a little over $100. I was going to try to talk him down, but when I saw it, I just couldn't.
The bag looks like it has never seen a lawn, the mulch fan has never seen grass, and the mulch plate looks to have never been installed. Starts right up and cuts like a dream. I forgot how light these machines were. Im planning to replace the primer and air filter as soon as I get a chance. The filter has seen its day and no longer fits proper.

Only issues I see is it needing the recoil spring wound tighter and it has a weird issue after running about 15-20 mins. It just shuts off. Give it a minute or two and it will start right back up. Any ideas?

Wow, nice find. Looks like new. Check the vent hole on the gas cap, it may be plugged causing a condition like you describe.

Just thought of another item to check. Does this model have the fuel shutoff petcock on it? If so, I think it has a filter built into it. Check to make sure it isn't clogged.

I don't think you paid too much. These two-cycle LBs are getting harder to find and yours is in near-mint condition.

I am " green with envy " BEAUTIFUL lookin machine ........ Personally I would get it running ...... stop it ,clean out everything round up a few spare filters and maybe a few other small parts then put it away in a safe keeping place..someday down the line that will be a cash cow .... BIG TIME !! You must must be in good with the BIG MAN !!! ...:cool2:

Sorry for the lack of a reply, work has been absolutely nuts. Haven't had a chance to mess with it other than to check the exhaust ports and make an attempt at mowing with the bag.

While a had the exhaust off , I noticed a possibly of some scoring on the piston. Haven't attempted a compression test yet. Ports were squeaky clean .

When I tried to use the bag, it keeps opening up at the back of the bag where you dump it. Not sure if there is some sort of clamp missing . Looking at pics of other mowers, I'm wondering if the bag bracket is bent open too far.

Is there something besides the support bar that keeps the bag closed ?

I plan to use it for a bit until I can get another duraforce. Hoping to pick up a commercial model. I check craigslist several times a day.

When searching Craigslist be sure to search using 'lawnboy' 'lawn-boy' and 'lawn boy' oddly enough you can get different results

Great looking machine you did good
