I recently opened up the carb on my Ryobi 2200 Digital Inverter that would not start. I left fuel in the generator for about 4 months and it appears the ethanol in the gas destroyed the carb. I have ordered a new carb, but my question is, what are the chances that the fuel pump also needs to be replaced ? In one of the photos, you can see small white granules. Could that be from the diaphragm in the fuel pump ? Thanks
The answer to your questions is possibly. Suggestion, pick up a bottle of quality name brand fuel treatment & follow directions on bottle to take care of ethanol problem.
No test for fuel pump corrosion only visual inspection. Your fuel pump will either work or not. Suggestion: use high test gas along with fuel treatment for best results.
Installed the new carb and the generator is up and running again. What is the best way to prevent this from happening again ? I have filled it with ethanol free TruFuel and installed an inline fuel valve so I can run it dry before storage. How much safer is the ethanol free fuel versus using ethanol shield with "gas station" gas ? Any other preventative measures I can take ?
